Expirations
The Expirations page brings every expiry date in Ascent into one place, so you never have to check domains, certificates, software, warranties, and contracts separately to find out what is lapsing soon. It pairs with a configurable daily alert that emails and notifies your team before things expire.
Overview
The Expirations view tracks expiry dates from across Ascent:
- Domain registrations — domains approaching their registration expiry
- SSL/TLS certificates — certificates approaching their valid-to date
- Software — software with a maintenance or support end date
- License keys — license keys with an expiry date
- Asset warranties — assets approaching their warranty expiry
- Contracts — contracts approaching their end date
Nothing is duplicated — the page reads the same records you already manage in their own modules and simply gathers their dates together. Opening any item takes you straight to its source record.
Navigate to Expirations
Go to Assets → Expirations in the left sidebar.
You will only see this page if your role includes the Expirations view permission. What appears in the list is also limited to the items you can already see elsewhere: if your role doesn't include domains, for example, domains won't appear here, and if your access is restricted to certain clients you will only see those clients' items.
Reading the list
Each item shows its name, the client it belongs to (if any), the expiry date, and how many days remain. Items are split into two states:
- Overdue — already past their expiry date (shown as a negative number of days)
- Upcoming — expiring within the selected time window
Summary counts at the top tell you how many items are overdue and how many are upcoming at a glance.
Filtering
- Time window — choose how far ahead to look (from 30 up to 365 days). Only upcoming items within the window are shown; overdue items are always included.
- Type — narrow to specific categories (domains, certificates, software, license keys, warranties, contracts).
- Client — use the global client filter to focus on a single client.
Proactive expiration alerts
Ascent runs a daily check and notifies your administrators about items that are approaching expiry, so renewals don't slip through the cracks. You control how this behaves per organization.
Configure alerts
Go to Settings → Expiration Alerts. This page requires the Expiration Alerts management permission (Owners and Admins have it by default).
You can set:
- Alerts on/off — a master switch. When off, no expiration notifications are sent, but the Expirations page stays available.
- Lead time — how many days before an item expires you want to be warned (default 45 days).
- Re-notify window — how long to wait before alerting about the same item again, so a daily run doesn't notify you about the same expiry every single day (default 7 days).
- Categories — turn alerts on or off independently for domains, certificates, software & license keys, warranties, and contracts. Turning a category off here only affects the alerts; that category still appears on the Expirations page.
Until you change anything, every organization uses the defaults above, so the alerts keep working exactly as before with no setup required.
Dashboard widget
Add the Expirations widget to your custom dashboard for an at-a-glance count of overdue and upcoming items across the next 90 days, without leaving your dashboard.
