Portal Assets
View the IT assets your MSP tracks for your organization. The Assets page in the Client Portal is read-only: you can browse your equipment, but adding, editing, and removing assets is handled by your MSP.
Overview
The portal Assets page lets you:
- See the assets your MSP has assigned to your organization
- Read basic identification details for each asset (type, make and model, serial number, status)
Navigate to Assets
In the Client Portal, select Assets from the left navigation (/portal/assets).
Who can see assets
Access to the Assets page depends on your portal contact type. Asset visibility is granted to Primary and Technical contacts only:
| Contact type | Asset access |
|---|---|
| Primary | Yes — all assets |
| Technical | Yes — all assets |
| Billing | No |
| Emergency | No |
| Other | No |
If your account type does not include asset access, the Assets navigation item is hidden and the page returns an access error. Contact your MSP if you believe you should have access.
The asset list
Assets are shown as a grid of cards, sorted alphabetically by name. Each card displays:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The asset name or hostname |
| Type | The asset category (for example, Server, Laptop, Workstation) |
| Status | The asset's lifecycle status (see below) |
| Model | The make and model, combined into one line when recorded |
| Serial | The serial number, when recorded |
Each card uses an icon based on the asset type — for example, a server, laptop, phone, or storage icon — with a generic monitor icon for other types.
Filtering and searching
Two controls sit above the asset grid:
- Search assets… — a search box.
- All Types dropdown — options are Workstation, Laptop, Server, Network, Mobile, Printer, and Other.
If you have no assets, the page shows a No assets found message.
Asset status
The status badge on each card shows the asset's lifecycle state, displayed as the raw value (in uppercase) from your MSP's asset records. The most common values are:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ACTIVE | Currently in use |
| MAINTENANCE | Under service or maintenance |
| INACTIVE | Not currently in use |
| RETIRED | Removed from active service |
Other status values your MSP uses can also appear on the badge.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add or edit assets?
No. The portal Assets page is read-only. Your MSP manages all asset records. To report a new asset, a correction, or a decommissioned device, open a support ticket from the Tickets page.
Why don't I see the Assets page?
Asset access is limited to Primary and Technical portal contacts. If you are a Billing, Emergency, or Other contact, the Assets page is not available to you. Ask your MSP to adjust your contact type if you need access.
An asset is missing — what should I do?
Confirm the device is one your MSP tracks for your organization. If it still doesn't appear, contact your MSP so they can add or assign it.
Where does asset data come from?
Assets are maintained by your MSP. Depending on their setup, records may be entered manually or synced from Level RMM. The portal displays whatever details your MSP has recorded.
