Portal Projects

The Projects page lets your clients follow the projects you are running for them — at a glance and in detail — without ever exposing your internal numbers. It is read-only: clients can view status and progress but cannot create, edit, or comment on a project from the portal.

What clients see

The Projects list shows each of the client's projects with:

  • Name
  • Status — Not Started, In Progress, On Hold, or Completed
  • Progress — a bar and percentage based on completed tasks
  • Due date

Selecting a project opens a read-only detail view with its description, key dates (start, due, and completed), and a task-completion breakdown (To Do, In Progress, Blocked, Done).

Cancelled projects are not shown in the portal.

What clients do not see

The portal deliberately omits all MSP-internal financial and operational detail. Clients never see:

  • Project budgets (hours or amount)
  • Cost or logged-time value, or profitability (revenue vs. cost)
  • Per-entry rates
  • The internal project manager assignment

Progress shown to clients is based solely on task completion, not on time logged or money spent.

Visibility by contact type

Like the other portal sections, Projects visibility is governed by the contact's Contact Type:

Contact TypeProjects
PrimaryAll
BillingAll
TechnicalAll
EmergencyNone
OtherNone

"All" means the contact sees every project for their client; "None" hides the Projects section entirely. Each client only ever sees their own organization's projects.
